Struggles

I haven’t been able to write, I haven’t been able to think about anything that may be beneficial for me to write. I’ve been struggling with finding the right words to express myself. I figured I would just try to share how frustrated I’ve been with things that have been occurring in the United States as of late, all of which are my opinions.

I was chatting with my my mom about suicide. Just mentioning how many famous and regular people choose suicide over their right to live. This really gets me down, especially as someone who as struggled with suicidal thoughts before. One of the reason I believe people have such a hard time is because as a whole, having depression and anxiety and really any kind of mental illness has always been looked down on. In my opinion, and something I’ve personally struggled with, it is a way of admitting a weakness you didn’t want people to see. When you are so concerned with the way people will perceive you after admitting something so dear to you, it’s hard to face what you are going through. Another reason I believe it is difficult is because people don’t always have access to therapy. I personally have never been able to go to a therapist, mostly because my insurance won’t cover it and I don’t have enough money to pay out of pocket. If everyone was able to have access to licensed help, if they want or need it, I personally believe that would be very beneficial. If we could just strip away all these taboos around mental health, I think it would end up being a step forward for those struggling with suicidal thoughts.

I don’t understand why we are still fighting for equality. Why is it, in the twenty-first century, all human beings aren’t being treated equally? What goes through someones mind when they see a woman, a person of color, or LGBT, that makes someone believe they are not equal to everyone else. They are going about their lives, just like the rest of the world. Everybody is living off these preconceived notions, from a day and age that isn’t around anymore. Honestly, if you are one of those people who just can’t fathom being in a room with a strong woman, a successful person of color, or an affluent member of LGBT, keep your opinions to yourself. They used to call the US the melting pot, because of how many different cultures there were. That is something that can be beautiful, but in order for that to happen there needs to be diversity. We are all the same species, there may be some differences on the outside, but who cares? Underneath it all we are the same. My point is, race, gender, sexual orientation, are all details that don’t matter in the long run. It all boils down to what you do with your life, a woman can make just as much difference in the world as a man, as can any human being who wants to make a difference.

Those are just some of the things I’ve been having some problems with. I hope in the future things will change for the better. Worry about yourself, just because you don’t agree with what someone is doing with their life, doesn’t mean you can’t support them. People have the right to live their life as they see fit, and if they aren’t harming other people in the process, let them be. Spread love and see what happens.
