Namesake

I am a huge animal lover, especially cats. I don’t know what it is about cats, but they hold a very special place in my heart. I have two cats at the moment, Loki and Luna. Hence, the reason my blog is Lokiluna. I have a dog as well but adding her name seemed like it would be a little bit of an overkill. We have always had animals in our house, I don’t have a memory from my childhood without animals in it. I am fairly certain I don’t want children, so I decided I would spoil my animals as much as I possibly could.

This is Loki

I’ve had him since birth, literally, his mom had a litter on my back porch. I found homes for the kittens that survived, but I couldn’t quite part with him. He is the most mischievous cat I’ve ever encountered. Therefore, there wasn’t a more appropriate name then Loki. The Norse god of mischief and trickery. He had a different name when he was first born, but once his personality emerged, there was no other choice. For being the smallest of the litter, he has grown incredibly, he is 17 lbs and believe it or not, he’s lost weight, we’re working on it.

This is Luna

I can’t say her name came from a personality trait, I mean, maybe, she is a little odd. Luna came about because of my love for Harry Potter, Luna Lovegood is one of my favorite characters, and what a way to honor something you love. My neighbor at one point had an outdoor cat that had a litter. There was just Luna and her brother. My neighbor kept her brother and I took Luna in, she was around five or six weeks old when I first got her.

They are the best of buds and I plan to continue the act of spoiling them as much as I can.   Loki will be four in April and Luna three shortly after. Here’s to ten years or more with my babies.
